May Is Preservation Month (& Beyond Tours)

  • Bike tour began at Chadbourn Spanish Gospel Mission.

  • The last three stops were at two homes in the Old North End Neighborhood and at Tasty Freeze, where the tour ended.

Each May is Preservation Month, a National Trust for Historic Preservation initiative that encourages people across the United States to highlight places in their communities that matter historically. This is what the Historic Preservation Alliance and the Old North End Neighborhood (ONEN) have done each year for the past several years.

PRESERVATION MONTH & BEYOND TOURS: In 2018, we are hosting events in May and June. Please take advantage of the opportunities we will be offering such as the Pikes Peak Preservation Forum, The Evolution of Platte Avenue on May 26, A glimpse of history: Glen Eyrie on June 23. Please visit this website often to see updated information.

In 2017 these organizations collaborated with Allen Beauchamp of Bike Colorado Springs to highlight the significance of the Colorado Springs Legacy Loop.

The first leg of the Legacy Loop bike tour began at the Chadbourn Spanish Gospel Mission (photo included here) and included a leisurely bike ride with stops along the way to share snippets of the significant history of these places.

The last three stops were at two homes in the Old North End Neighborhood and at Tasty Freeze, where the tour ended.  The attendance was high, the weather was terrific and everyone had a great time learning about our history!
