Preservation Month Events

Maintenance is Preservation

A free window workshop:   “Restoration of Your Historic/Original Windows”
When & Where:  On Saturday, July 21, 2012, 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. in the Carnegie Reading Room at Penrose Library.  (Parking available at the adjacent city garage on Cascade Avenue.  Cost is $1.)

Description:  Charlie Paterson, Charlie Paterson Construction, will make a short presentation on the merits of restoration over replacement, energy efficiency, and cost benefits.  Using a historic window, you will be shown the parts, how the mechanism works, see a before and after view of an actual restoration, and learn the process and the products used.  Rationale:  Even if you intend to hire an expert, it is always best to understand the process.  And when approached by a salesperson, it is important to know your choices.  Questions?  473-8108
